The electric window on your Ford F-150 is composed of the window glass and the power window regulator. If the glass is broken, there is no simple way to fix it. The easiest solution is to replace the glass. Likewise, if your regulator stops working, you will need to replace it as the cost and time required to repair the regulator are far greater than simply installing a new one.
Instructions
Removing Interior Door Panel
1. Use a socket wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Use a slotted screwdriver to pry out the armrest switch control plate. Disconnect its wiring connector.
3. Pry off the door pillar trim cover and the side view mirror trim cover with a slotted screwdriver.
4. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the screw from the inside door handle trim cover and pry it out with a slotted screwdriver.
5. Pry out all ten plastic clips from the edge of the interior door panel using a slotted screwdriver. Pull the interior door panel off the door and disconnect its wiring connector.
Removing the Window
6. Remove the plastic water shield from the door. Lower the glass window all the way down into the door.
7. Pry out the inner and outer weatherstripping from the door with a slotted screwdriver.
8. Uninstall the rear glass channel bolt and glass channel using a socket wrench.
9. Remove the window retaining nuts with a socket wrench and pull the window out of the F-150.
Replacing the Regulator
10. Use a drill to remove the six rivets securing the window regulator.
11. Pull the regulator off the door and replace it with a new one. New regulators come with bolts to replace the rivets. Use a socket wrench to install the six bolts to secure the regulator to the door.
12. Reinstall or replace the glass window and its accompanying components.
13. Reattach the interior door panel and the clips. Reattach the armrest cover plate and the trim covers.
14. Reconnect the F-150's battery.
