Set Up Tmobile Cell Phone For Wifi

Set Up T-Mobile Cell Phone for WiFi

While cell phone provider T-Mobile offers a 3G network for Internet and email access, many of its newer phones offer the option of connecting to the Internet via any Wi-Fi hotspot. If you subscribe to the T-Mobile@Home service, you can even make calls over a Wi-Fi network without using your minutes. If you want to access this function, you'll need to spend some time setting up your phone, but the savings on your 3G data plan will more than make up for it.

Instructions

Using a T-Mobile G1

1. Press "Menu," then tap "Settings." Tap "Wireless Controls" and make sure the "Wi-Fi" check box is checked.

2. Tap the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.

3. Enter your network key or password, if required. Tap "Connect."

Using a Blackberry Pearl 8220

4. Go to your "Home" screen. Click "Set Up Wi-Fi."

5. Click "Scan for Networks." Select a network from the list that appears and click it.

6. Follow the on-screen prompts. Click "Wi-Fi Hotspot Login" and enter the network key or password for your network, if necessary. Press the "Escape" key.

7. Click "Finish."
