Unlock The Nokia N95

Most Nokia handsets can be unlocked.

Unlocking a Nokia N95 will enable it to work on all GSM networks. You will have to obtain a code in order to unlock the Nokia. Once the Nokia N95 handset has been unlocked you can insert a SIM card from any GSM network to use their service. Networks such as Verizon, Sprint and MetroPCS do not offer SIM cards, so they cannot be used on your unlocked N95 handset.

Instructions

1. Remove the back cover and battery from your handset and locate your Nokia N95 International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number. This number is printed on a sticker under the battery. If you cannot see the number clearly, replace the battery and cover, turn on the phone and dial "*#060#" then "OK." A 15-digit IMEI number will display on the screen. You have to give your provider this number in order to obtain the free unlock code.

2. Call your wireless provider and ask for a Nokia N95 unlock code. If they cannot provide you with the code, you can purchase one online from a website like Ggsmliberty.net.

3. Fully charge your handset before attempting the unlock.

4. Dial "#PW+" from the main screen. Your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card must be inserted before dialing this. You can insert your SIM by removing the back cover and battery from your phone and inserting it into the SIM cradle. This is a small rectangular slot that houses the SIM card. Make sure you enter this card contact side down. Then replace the cover and battery.

5. Enter the free unlock code exactly as it was given to you. If you enter this code incorrectly more than a few times you will be permanently locked out of your handset. On most handsets this will happen after entering the code incorrectly three times.

6. Type "+1#." At this point your cell phone should display the phrase "SIM Restriction Off." Next, remove your SIM card and use any carrier's SIM card in the phone.
