Pantech Duo Tips

Pantech DUO phones

The Pantech Duo is a double slider, quad-band 3G GSM cell phone sold by AT&T Wireless. It has a 2.2-inch color screen, a 1.3-megapixel digital camera (no flash) and runs the Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system.

Sliding the bottom half downward reveals a standard phone keypad, while sliding the bottom half to the left uncovers a QWERTY-style keypad with special-function keys. The display switches to landscape mode when the QWERTY keypad is opened.

Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrade Available

The Pantech DUO is shipped with the Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system, but a free Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade is available from Pantech. See the Resources section below for a link to the Windows Mobile 6.1 download site.

According to Microsoft, Windows Mobile 6.1 offers improved Web browsing, better security and easier Wi-Fi connectivity.

Warning: If your Pantech DUO has been unlocked and you are using the phone with a carrier other than AT&T Wireless, do not perform this upgrade.

Memory Limits

The Pantech DUO has 50 megabytes (MB) of internal memory for images, music or other data. This memory can be expanded by inserting a microSD memory card into the slot at the top of the unit. Note, however, that the Pantech DUO does not recognize microSD cards with capacities of more than two gigabytes. In addition, the new class of high-capacity microSDHC cards are also not compatible with the unit.

One Keypad at a Time

Do not try to open the standard keypad when the QWERTY keypad is open or vice versa. Only one keypad can be extended at a time. The other will be locked.
