Reinstall N900

Remember to backup your important files when resetting the Nokia N900.

The Nokia N900 is a micro mobile computer with telephone capability. The device provides users with web browser functionality, email and camera, as well as a portable media player and the ability to play games. Reinstalling the Nokia N900 requires a hard reset, or flashing the device. Users should back up their important data and files prior to attempting a hard reset, as it will wipe out all the data.

Instructions

1. Go to "Settings" and select "About Product" and write down your IMEI number.

2. Go to the Nokia website on your computer and download Maemo 5 Flasher.

3. Click to download "PR 1.2" and "eMMC content." You will need your IMEI number for this download installation.

4. Click on each ".bin" file and select "Move." Move the files to "C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5."

5. Press the power button to turn off the N900.

6. Connect the MicroUSB cable to your computer and power on while holding the "U" button on the N900 keyboard. A Nokia label and USB icon should appear on your Nokia.

7. Click "Start" and "Run" on your PC.

8. Enter "Cmd" and type "cd\program files\maemo\flasher-3.5" and press "Enter."

9. Enter "flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin --f." After a few minutes it will indicate that the CMT Flash was successful.

10. Type "flasher-3.5 -FRX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f --R." The Nokia will restart on its own. If not, press the power button to restart it.
