Convert Wav To Ringtone

Convert WAV to Ringtone

While the WAV format is a common audio codec, it cannot be used to play back ringtones once they have been transferred to cell phones. Most ringtones are formatted in MP3, AAC and M4A formats, which eliminates the use of WAV, as it cannot be read on most cellular devices. Therefore, converting WAV audio into an MP3, AAC or M4A for ringtone playback becomes an option. Web-based converters can be used to expeditiously convert any WAV file to a ringtone format.

Instructions

1. Access a Web-based audio file conversion site. (See Resources for a list of Web-based conversion sites.)

2. Click the "Browse" button located below or next to the file path directory form. A file path directory pop-up box will appear.

3. Locate and select the WAV file you'd like to convert to a ringtone.

4. Click "Open" once you've selected the WAV file, to load it into the Web-based converter. The input format for the loaded file will automatically be changed to WAV. This will indicate that the file has been recognized and identified.

5. Change the output format by clicking the drop-down bar to view the available audio formats for conversion. Select MP3, AAC, or M4A based on the playback compatibility for your phone.

6. Click the "Convert," "Start" or "OK" action to begin the WAV file conversion to a ring-tone audio format. (Wording may vary based on the conversion site you use.)
