How Do I Transfer Information on One Memory Card on a Phone to a New Storage Card?
Moving files from your phone's memory card to a second card is a process that involves not only your phone, but also a Mac or Windows-based PC with a built-in or external memory card reader, which will help assist in the process of moving files from one device to another. This process will work for MicroSD, SD and M2 cards with the proper computer reader available.
Instructions
1. Remove the memory card from your phone. Typically, the card will be found under your phones battery or on the side of the device. You may be able to pull the card out gently, while other cards will release once gently pushed inward.
2. Create a folder on your computers desktop where you can store files for transfer. You can name the folder whatever you choose.
3. Place the card in your computers memory card slot. If your card slot is an external piece of hardware make sure the hardware is plugged into your computer before inserting the card.
4. Look for the new card on your computer. PC users will find the new drive under "My Computer" while Mac users will see the new drive on their desktop. Click on the new drive to access the required files.
5. Choose the "Select All" feature or drag and highlight all of the files on your memory card that you want to transfer. Drag and drop the files into the newly created folder on your desktop.
6. Remove the original memory card by selecting "Eject" on a Mac or by clicking on the card at the bottom right hand side of your Windows based PC and choosing to "Close" the open card.
7. Insert the new memory card into the drive. Open the cards folder and then drag and drop the files from your desktop folder onto the card. Close the card drive and eject the drive.
8. Remove and then reinsert the card, check to ensure all files required have been transferred.
9. Place the memory card with the transferred information into your phone. Browse using your phones search option to the files in question. Files should now be available for use.
