Enter A Proxy Address In The Nokia E71

Nokia's E71 phone features a 2.36-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 320 by 240 pixels. Data networks include GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA. The Nokia E71 provides full Internet connectivity that includes email, Web browsing, PC tethering, maps and navigation. The phone has provision for advanced Internet access points for packet data that includes proxy server addresses if your service provider uses them. Proxy servers are intermediate servers that can provide security and speed up access. They sit between a browsing service and the user. You can enter a proxy address into the E71 if your provider asks you for one.

Instructions

1. Press "Menu" from the soft keys, and press to select "Tools," "Settings," "Connection" and "Access Points." Enter the basic Internet settings your provider for GRPS packet data gave you. Press the buttons for numbers and periods.

2. Press "Options" from the soft keys and press to select "Advanced Settings." Enter either "IPv4" or "IPv6" for the network type. This protocol determines how data transfers.

3. Press the keyboard buttons to enter the IP address of the E71 if you have it. Otherwise, select "Automatic."

4. Press the keyboard buttons to enter the "DNS" addresses if your service provider requires DNS addresses. Often, this is automatic.

5. Press the keyboard buttons to enter the proxy server address.
