Update The Software For The Nokia 5300

The Nokia 5300 is a cell phone containing numerous features that make the phone useful for placing calls, listening to music, accessing the Internet and taking pictures. In order to keep the phone up to date and working correctly, you need to update the software. Options for updating software include downloading the Nokia Software Updater to your home computer and then connecting your phone to it, or using your phone to connect to the Internet and perform the software update.

Update Using Nokia Software Updater


1. Download and install Nokia Software Updater on your computer. Accept the Nokia Software Updater terms of use to begin the installation process. Before installation can finish, you will need to restart your computer.


2. Turn on your phone and connect it to your computer using a USB cable.


3. Click the desktop icon placed on your desktop during installation to open the program. The updater will first prompt you to back up the contents of your phone, then to go online and check for updates. When the update process is complete, you will receive a message stating the update is complete.

4. Exit any open applications so that you are on the "home screen" of your phone.


5. Slide the phone cover up to reveal the key pad and type in the access code *#0000# . Slide the phone cover back down and press the bottom left button to scroll through the menu until you come to "Options," then press the middle "Select" button.


6. Scroll again and choose "Check for Updates." If updates are not available, you will receive a message telling you no updates are available at this time. If updates are available, the process will begin immediately. During the final portion of the update process, your phone screen will go blank and then display a message stating the update is complete.
