Replacement Housing Installation Instructions For The Motorola K1

You'll need a screwdriver to replace your K1's housing.

The Motorola K1 is a cellular flip phone that is unique due to its ultra-thin design. But even though the frame is thin, you can still remove and replace the housing of the phone if you would like to customize it to a more unique style. There's no need to pay a technician to do it for you, because the entire process can be completed in a matter of minutes. And you don't need to know much about electronics.

Instructions

1. Turn your K1 off, flip the top display closed and turn the unit over. Slide the back battery door up and off the unit. Remove the battery from the unit.

2. Use your small Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws on the corners of the battery compartment.

3. Pry the back panel off the phone to expose the green circuit board underneath.

4. Unplug the orange screen cable from its port in the top corner of the circuit board.

5. Pry the plastic frame at the top of the phone off with your fingers.

6. Remove the four screws from the top corners of the phone and then remove the rectangular cover and set it aside. The square-shaped front LCD will now be exposed on a green circuit board

7. Unclip the two orange ribbons from their ports at the top of the circuit board.

8. Run your fingers along the top screen to separate it from the internal screen and set the top screen aside.

9. Unclip the housing from the internal screen and replace it with the new housing. Replace the top screen and fit the new housing over it. Then reverse the steps for reassembly.
