Find a Sony Model Number
Sony computers, CD players, cell phones, DVD players and other Sony electronic equipment all have one thing in common-a model number. The model number is unique and often alphanumeric. If you need to order parts or accessories for your Sony television, computer or other device, you will need the model number. The model number is located on the piece of Sony equipment and it is also printed on the front of the equipment's owner's manual.
Instructions
Model Number on Sony Computers - Laptops & Desktops
1. Turn off the Sony computer by pressing the "Power" button on the front or back of the computer.
2. Turn the Sony laptop upside down. Locate the sticker with the wording "Sony" printed on it. If you have a Sony laptop that is older than the year 2000, the model number is printed next to the word "Model."
3. If you have a Sony laptop manufactured after the year 2000, look on the frame of the LCD display. The model number may also be on the top left or top right of the keyboard.
4. Look on the front of the Sony desktop computer-the model number is printed on the front of the case.
5. Write the model number on a piece of paper for future reference.
Finding the Model Number on Sony Cell Phones
6. Turn off the Sony cell phone by pressing the "Power" button.
7. Take off the cell phone's back cover. Remove the battery.
8. Locate the sticker with the wording "Sony" printed on it. The model number is on the sticker next to the wording "Model."
9. Write the model number on a piece of paper for future reference.
Model Number on Other Sony Equipment - TVs, VCRs, DVD Players
10. Turn off the piece of Sony equipment by pressing the "Power" button on the front of the device.
11. Turn the piece of equipment around so the back of the device is facing you. If you have a portable Sony device, such as a Walkman, turn the piece of equipment upside down.
12. Use a flashlight to locate the sticker with the wording "Sony" printed on it. The model number is printed next to the wording "Model."
13. Write the model number on a piece of paper for future reference.
