Download A Program To A Nokia Cell Phone

Nokia cellphone

If your phone contains a mini-SD or SD card you can download programs to your handset from your laptop or PC. This insert-able storage chip allows you to download and save programs to your Nokia phone without having to store them on your phone, thus saving storage space. As long as the program is compatible with your Nokia model, you will be able to run it from your phone.

Instructions

Using Your PC

1. Install the software disc that came with your Nokia phone. This CD-Rom contains the phone's software and the phone's driver. Installing this software will enable the phone to be picked up as a device once it's connected to the PC.

2. Remove the battery cover from the phone and make sure the SIM card is inside of the phone. Next, insert the SD card or mini-SD card into the SD card slot. Without this card in the phone, you will not be able to save anything to it.

3. Plug the phone into the PC via the USB cord. Only use the cord specified for your phone's model, even if another seems to fit.

4. Open the "My Computer" folder located on your desktop, or start menu. You can view the start menu by clicking the Windows emblem in the bottom-left corner of the PC screen and navigating over to it in the list.

5. Double-click the drive that displays the Nokia phone emblem, or a small icon of your Nokia's model. Open the folder you want to save the program to, and minimize the window.

6. Locate on your PC the program you want to save to your phone. Make sure the program file extention is ".exe"; you cannot use the program if you transfer over the icon or shortcut. Open your folder and drag this file into it.

7. Download the program you want to save from the Internet. When selecting a folder for the file to save to, select "My Computer," the Nokia drive and your selected folder.

Using Your Phone

8. Enter your phone's main menu.

9. Navigate to your Internet browser and select it.

10. Type in the downloads address. If you don't know the address to download the program from, you can type the name of it into Google.com or Downloads.com.

11. Download the program file to the folder of your choice; if it does not give you an option, it will display the file it's downloading to.
