Renew An Expired Cna Certification

You may have to take an exam to renew your certification.


Before you can learn renew an expired certified nursing assistant certification, you must know the requirements needed. You need to have worked as a CNA within the past 24 months to renew a certification. If you fit this requirement, then you can use the Nurses Aide Registry Renewal Form to present your information for consideration of a renewal. If you have not worked in the last 24 months, you can still renew.


Instructions


1. Fill in your personal information on the renewal form. You must include all of you personal information and have a health care employer fill out the second section. The employer can be a present employer or one from the past 24 months.


2. Sign and date the application after the employer enters his information. You will then need to mail the form to the mailing address for your particular state.


3. Allow time for processing. This could take as much as two weeks. In some states, you can go online to check the status of your renewal.


4. Retake the state certification exam if you have not performed work at a health care facility within the past 24 months. Some states may require you to enroll in a nurse's aide program before you can take the state exam.
