Pick Up An Existing Internet Connection With A Laptop

Whether at home or at a remote Wi-Fi hotspot, connecting to the Internet with your laptop is a convenient way to access the Net wirelessly. Making the connection takes only minimal computer literacy and a few easy steps.


Instructions


1. Access the network connection on your laptop. Find the connection icon on your bottom tool bar (two computer screens diagonally linked) or through the Control Panel.


2. Click on the network connection icon.


3. Click "Connect to an existing network." A list of networks available will appear.


4. Choose and click the network you wish to connect to. To the right of the network name shows which networks are secure (password-restricted) and unsecure (available without a password). The strength of the available connection also shows.


5. To connect, click the network. Your computer will attempt to connect. If you are authorized to connect, you will connect automatically. You then have the option to "Save this network." Choosing this automatically connects you in the future to the Internet using the selected network.
