Use a USB device to load games to your Wii.
Backing up Nintendo Wii games is a good way to ensure that the discs don't get damaged during game play. Wii games can be backed up onto a USB external hard drive. Once the game is backed up on the hard drive, the hard drive can be plugged into the USB slots on the back of the Nintendo Wii, the game loaded from the hard drive and played without the game disc.
Instructions
1. Plug the SD card that is used for Homebrew on the Nintendo Wii into the computer's SD card slot. From the "My Computer" icon, double-click on the drive where the SD card is located. A new window will populate that contains what is stored on the SD card. Click on the apps folder to open it. At the top of the window, click on "Folder" and then "New Folder." This will create a new folder in the apps folder. Name the folder cIOS and put the latest version of cIOS in the folder. Then place the SD card in the Wii system and launch the system's Homebrew Channel. The application cIOS should show on screen, simply follow the instructions for the installer.
2. Install the USB Loader GX by putting the SD card that is used for Homebrew on the Nintendo Wii in the computer's SD card slot and opening the folder to show all of the SD card's contents. Copy the entire folder labeled usbloader_gx from the computer, and place it in the folder labeled apps on the SD card. Plug the SD card into the card slot on the Nintendo Wii again, and install the USB Loader GX onto the Wii by following the on-screen instructions.
3. Format the external hard drive by plugging the USB hard drive into the computer. Right click on the "My Computer" icon and then left click on "Manage." On the left, there is an option called, "Disk Management;" click on this option. When the disk drives are finished loading, right click on the letter of the drive that will be formatted to work with the Wii and choose "Delete Volume." Next, right click on the drive again and select "New." Follow the instructions to assign a letter to the new drive. Make sure not to format the drive when it's created. Run the WBFS Manager. On the WBFS Manager, select the letter that was assigned to the new drive and click "Format."
4. Plug the USB hard drive into the USB slot on the back of the Wii and insert a Wii game disc. The screen will populate with the question, "Do you want to backup this disc?" Click "Yes" and the game will be backed up on the hard drive. Once the games are backed up, they can be played solely by plugging in the hard drive to the USB slot.
