Format My Phone Memory

Media files such as pictures and ringtones are erased once a phone's memory is formatted.

You may need to format the memory on your mobile phone if the phone is lagging or if the phone's memory is corrupted. Formatting the phone's memory completely erases all data stored on the phone and restores it back to factory settings. The information cannot be retrieved. The memory is reformatted using the phone's built-in security settings. Although the process may differ based on the model of the phone, the steps are similar for most mobile phones.

Instructions

1. Press the "Menu" key on the phone, then select the "Settings" icon.

2. Select "Reset," then "Reset Settings." Depending on the model of your phone, the option to reset may be located in the "Security" folder located within "Settings."

3. Confirm that you wish to reset the phone, then enter the lock code for your phone. The default lock code for most mobile phones is the last four digits of the mobile phone number.

4. Confirm that you want to reset the phone by selecting "Done" or "OK," then wait for the process to complete.
