Flash A Cricket

Cricket Wireless is a cellular phone company known for offering low-cost phone plans without long-term contracts, as of 2010. An individual who switches to a new service provider has the option of using a Cricket phone on the new network. The process of converting the phone to the new network is known as flashing.

Instructions

1. Contact your new cellular service provider to determine if its network is compatible with CDMA-type phones. All Cricket phones run on a CDMA network, but some cell companies use a different type of technology known as GSM. If your new company uses GSM, you will be unable to flash your phone.

2. Download and install the flash software onto your computer. You can find free flash software through a simple Internet search. Open the software.

3. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable. The flash software will automatically recognize your phone and bring up a menu that takes you through each step required to flash your phone. If the software does not recognize your phone, disconnect it from the USB cord, wait a few seconds and reattach it.

4. Test your phone on your new network. If it does not work, open your flash software, locate the "Help" tab on the top menu and review the "Read Me" file to determine what you need to do to complete the flash.
