The EVO is an Android-based device that benefits from 4G connectivity, giving you superior data speeds wherever your carrier's 4G signal is available. This makes using a Google account even more convenient for you, since accessing and syncing your documents, emails and contacts is even faster. Getting your Evo set up to use a Google account is a straightforward process, where Google gives you helpful information to follow right on your phone's screen. The process is similar, whether you're creating and activating an account or simply activating an existing one on your device.
Instructions
1. Press the "Home" button, which is on the left, below the EVO's display.
2. Press the "Menu" button.
3. Tap "Settings," then "Accounts & Sync."
4. Tap "Add account," then "Google," and then "Next."
5. Tap "Create" or "Sign in," depending on whether you need to make a new Google account or you have an existing account.
6. Enter the relevant information for your account. If you chose to create a new account, you'll need to provide your first name, your last name, and a username, which Google will also use for your email address; if the username you chose is not available, you'll need to choose another or select a recommendation from Google. After that, your phone will prompt you for a password and finally to select and answer a security question. If you chose to sign in, you'll just need to provide your username and password.
7. Tap "Create" or "Sign in," depending on whether you're making a new account or accessing an existing one. If you're creating a new account, you'll need to agree to Google's terms of service and type the letters you see in a security image.
8. Select the final synchronization options you prefer by tapping them to place a check in the available boxes. You can choose to have your EVO constantly sync any, all or none of the options available to you. The default options are email, books, contacts and docs, though if you are using an existing account you may have added others, such as Picasa and Google Calendar.
9. Tap "Finish."
