Skype is a versatile software program that includes instant messaging, free video calling and Internet calling. Skype's VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) feature allows users to call anyone from the software program as long as they have a microphone or a headset. Skype users call other Skype users or non-Skype users from the software application. Instead of typing your friend's phone number each time you use Skype, you can just add the phone number to a Skype contact list to save time.
Instructions
Add a Phone Number to a New Skype Contact
1. Open Skype.
2. Click the "New" button and select "New Contact."
3. Click on "Save a phone number in your contact list" to access the "Add a contact" prompt window.
4. Enter the person's contact information, such as their name, phone type (mobile, office, home, other) and phone number and click the flag to select the person's country of origin.
5. Click the box beside the flag and enter the person's phone number.
6. Click "Save phone number" if all the information provided is correct. This number will be in your contact list.
7. Click "Close" to exit the "Add a contact" prompt window.
Add a Phone Number to an Existing Skype Contact
8. Launch the Skype software.
9. Click on the Skype contact's profile.
10. Click the "Add a telephone number" button located on the right side of the Skype contact's profile.
11. Enter the telephone number of the contact in the "add a number to this profile" box and click "Save." The telephone number is visible to you and you only. Skype users cannot see the contact's telephone number.
