Reinstall Microsoft Works

Microsoft Works is a program similar to Microsoft Office that has a word processor, a spreadsheet, and a database inside it. Works is cheaper than Microsoft Office, but it is similar to Microsoft Word, a program that comes with Office. Sometimes programs like Microsoft Works can become corrupted and stop working properly on your computer. This can happen due to a virus, a spyware program or simply because the computer you use to run it is becoming old. If the program begins to not work for any of these reasons, then reinstalling it can be a good way to fix the problem.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button in the bottom left of the screen if running a recent version of Windows. Find the Microsoft Works option under "All programs" and click "uninstall." You should also be able to uninstall the program from the Microsoft Works Program folder by going into the Program Files directory.

2. Go into "Control Panel" from the Start Menu if uninstalling the program doesn't work normally. Look for the "add/remove program files" option, and double-click on it. You should be able to find Microsoft Works in here and remove it manually by clicking on the "Remove" button.

3. Insert the Microsoft Works CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive

4. Choose a directory to install the program to and click "Next" to go through the installation process. A status bar should fill up to show that the file is being installed.

5. Click the "Start" menu once again to find your Microsoft Works program and start it. The program has now been reinstalled.
