Disconnect A Battery From An Iphone

Disconnect a Battery From an iPhone

Cell phone batteries are rechargeable for while, but they eventually do not hold a complete charge due to age. If your iPhone battery requires more frequent charging, you will need access to the battery to replace it or to remove it for the phone to dry out in the case of water exposure. To access the battery, you must first remove the case from the phone and then the system board.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the power button on the upper right corner of the phone for six seconds. The shut-down slider appears on the screen. Place a finger on the slider and slide it to the right to turn off the phone.

2. Straighten the outside edge of a paperclip so it is at a 90-degree angle to the remaining part of the paperclip. Insert the tip of the straight paperclip edge into the small hole on top of the phone to the left of the power button. Press in the paperclip slightly. The SIM card will eject. Pull out the SIM card and set it aside.

3. Insert a micro Phillips screwdriver into the screw on the left side of the docking port. The docking port is on the bottom of the phone. Turn the screw counterclockwise to loosen it and pull it straight out. Repeat this step to remove the screw on the right side of the docking port.

4. Stick a small suction cup on the glass near the bottom of the phone front. Raise the glass up from the bottom of the phone, hold it with one hand and remove the suction cup. Gently pull the glass up from the bottom. The top of the screen is attached with three connectors to the system board.

5. Place a micro flat-head screwdriver on the two red connectors at the top right corner and pry them up to release them. Rotate the glass screen up to a 90-degree angle to the phone. The third red connector is under the ribbon cable of connector number two. Pry the third connector up with the micro flat-head screwdriver under the white arm to release it. Slide the screen off the base and set it aside.

6. Pry up each of the four connectors that are now visible on the system board with the micro flat-head screwdriver. The connectors are labeled 4, 5, 6 and 7.

7. Remove all eight screws on the system board with a micro Phillips screwdriver and set them aside.

8. Pry up the camera on the top right corner gently with a micro flat-head screwdriver. Pull out the camera and lay it aside.

9. Insert a micro flat-head screwdriver underneath the bottom of the system board and gently pry it up while wiggling the board back and forth with your other hand. Pull the circuit board off the phone.

10. Insert the micro flat-head screwdriver underneath the double-stick tape on the battery bottom. Pry it upward and pull the battery out of the phone.
