Unlock A Motorola V66

The Motorola V66 is locked by the wireless service provider before it is sold to the customer. This locking procedure makes it impossible to use a SIM card from a different network in the phone. However, a special unlock code may be entered to reprogram the phone for use on any network. In many cases, the wireless service provider will give the customer the unlock code if their account is in good standing and they have completed the terms of the contract.

Instructions

1. Write down the International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number. This is the unique code that identifies your particular phone and is required to obtain the unlock code. The code is displayed on the phone if you dial *#06#.

2. Contact your wireless service provider's customer service department to request the subsidy unlock code. Most representatives will give you the code if you explain that you wish to use the phone on vacation overseas with prepaid SIM cards.

3. Turn off the V66 and remove both the battery and the original SIM card. Insert the SIM card from a different carrier, replace the battery and turn on the phone.

4. Type the subsidy unlock code provided by the customer service representative and press "OK" to unlock the V66 for use on other networks.
