Change The Battery For The Iphone 3g

The iPhone 3G is an Apple phone that takes advantage of 3G technology to make face-to-face phone calls and provide high-speed Internet browsing. Changing the battery of your iPhone 3G is not as easy as with other phones. With other phones, the battery can be accessed easily by removing the back panel of the phone. To access your iPhone battery, you will have to open the casing and carefully remove the motherboard before you can change your battery.

Instructions

1. Remove the SIM tray from the top of your iPhone 3G using a SIM removal tool or a thin but firm object like a paperclip.

2. Using a small screwdriver, remove the two screws either side of main connector at the bottom of your iPhone 3G.

3. Maneuver the casing off using a case removal tool or your paperclip. Start below one of the two screws that you just removed, pushing the case away from the phone body.

4. Hold the case carefully because it will still be attached to the motherboard. Locate the cables numbered "1," "2" and "3" that are connected to the case. Remove them in numerical order from "1" to "3." Use your case removal tool or paperclip to wedge the third cable free.

5. Remove the white tab beneath the third cable by carefully pushing it until it slides out from underneath the metal casing.

6. Locate cables numbered "4", "5" and "6," and remove them from the motherboard in the same way you removed the previous three cables. This will enable you to access the battery.

7. Remove the screws holding the motherboard in place. Locate the first screw hidden beneath a label in the bottom-right corner of your iPhone 3G. Remove this screw first before working your way around the motherboard, removing the remaining six screws.

8. Gently lift the motherboard away from the casing. Do not pull it away because it is still attached by the camera. Lift away the final camera connector before completely removing the motherboard from the rest of the assembly.

9. Pull the plastic tab away from the iPhone casing to remove the battery.

10. Replace the existing battery with your new battery before reversing the previous steps to reassemble your iPhone 3G.
