Update An Mmc/Sd Drive

MultiMediaCard (MMC) and Secure Digital (SD) cards are commonly used in portable electronic devices, including cell phones, digital cameras and MP3 players. Many computers have MMC/SD slots built directly into the frame of the computer; however, aftermarket readers are available. As bugs in the card reader's drivers are identified, and as operating systems are updated, the reader manufacturer releases driver updates. Windows allows you to search for and automatically install these updates, ensuring that your MMC/SD reader is always up-to-date.

Instructions

1. Open the "Start" menu (the Windows-logo button in the lower-left-hand corner of the screen) and click "Control Panel."

2. Click "System and Maintenance" from within the Control Panel window and then click "Device Manager," located in the top-right of the "System and Maintenance" window.

3. Click the arrow to the left of "Storage Controllers." Right-click on your MMC/SD drive from within the list.

4. Click "Update Driver Software" to automatically search for the latest available drivers for the reader. If an update is found, it will be automatically installed.
