Get Internet Without A Landline

You can still use the Internet at home without a land line.

Whether you are moving to a new home, setting up an office space in your current home, or just looking for different Internet options, you can get online without a land line. With the rise of cellphone use, many people have dropped land-line phones and don't want to waste money on an unnecessary service. There are multiple options for individuals or businesses to connect to the Internet without requiring a land line.

Instructions

1. Order connection through your cable company for some of the fastest Internet speeds available. Check the website or call your cable company for current deals. Often, Cable companies offer great discounts when you package your television and Internet services. You will need a cable modem, which you can rent from the provider. Internet service usually will be installed in your home within 24 hours of your order.

2. Try satellite television companies. It is one of the more costly options, but may be more easily available than cable. Connections can be interrupted during heavy rain, snow or hail. Service will usually be installed within 24 hours of your order.

3. Connect to a local wireless connection through Wi-Fi. You'll need a wireless router or antenna. In Windows, right-click the "Internet Access" icon on the start bar and select "Find Wireless Connection." Click on any of the connections listed, preferably the ones with greater signal. Some cities, such as Philadelphia, offer free or low-cost wireless service connection for the entire city. After setup, Wi-Fi is available immediately.
