All modern cell phones have a Bluetooth connection.
Bluetooth is a wireless connection method that can link your laptop to other devices such as a cell phone, printer or speaker system. If your laptop is Bluetooth compatible you can use the Control Panel to configure and connect to any Bluetooth-friendly product.
Instructions
1. Ensure that the equipment you are connecting to (cell phone, printer or speaker system) has Bluetooth enabled. Certain hardware will have Bluetooth automatically enabled. However, cell phones don't always have Bluetooth on and you may have to manually enable it.
Most cell phones will have a Bluetooth connection option in their "Settings" folder. If you are in doubt, consult your cell phone's manual or support website.
2. Navigate to your laptop's Control Panel. Locate the Bluetooth icon and double-click on it. Your laptop will automatically open a Bluetooth program window.
3. Click on the Devices tab at the top of the window. You will see a selection of options including "Add," "Remove" and "Properties" at the bottom of the window. Click the "Add" button; the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard should automatically open.
4. Tick the box that says "My device is set up and ready to be found." Click the "Next" button and continue to another screen. On the next screen you should see a list of devices that are in close range and Bluetooth compatible.
If you cannot see the hardware device on the Selection screen, your device's Bluetooth settings may not be set to "Visible to All." Change the settings and click the "Search Again" button; your device should now be selectable on the screen.
5. Enter a personal passkey when prompted. The Bluetooth Wizard will ask you to enter a personal passkey; this is to confirm that the connecting hardware is yours. This only happens when you are connecting to a cell phone. Type the same passkey into the phone (your cell phone will prompt you) and your laptop and device will connect.
6. Click "Finish" on the Bluetooth Wizard to finish your connection.
