Restore An Eprom E90 On Nokia

Reset your Nokia E90 smart phone's EPROM.

The E90 Communicator is a smart phone released by Nokia in February 2007. Like any mobile phone, it has a built-in EPROM (erasable programmable read-only memory) chip. It stores your phone's operating system, and all related files and folders. Restoring your EPROM or performing a "hard reset" resets your phone to its original settings when it was first manufactured. This has many uses, but is commonly used to clear all personal data from your phone before you resell it, or give it away.

Instructions

Backing Up Your Phone's Files

1. Back up any wanted files before resetting the EPROM. Locate the folder labeled "Removable Disk," and double-click to open the folder.

2. Connect your Nokia E90 phone to your computer via the USB data cable that came with the device. Power on your phone, and your computer. Wait for Windows to connect your phone. Click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Drag and drop all files and folders from the open window to the desktop.

3. Eject the removable disk from Windows, and unplug the USB cable from the computer and the E90.

Restoring the EPROM

4. Power on your phone. Open the flip screen, and type "*#7370#" using the fold-out keypad. Press the "OK" button to enter the master reset menu.

5. Type "12345" when prompted by Nokia's operating system to enter a passcode to reset the phone. Press the "OK" button to proceed.

6. Wait two to five minutes for the EPROM to reset.
